UNTIL MOVIE MOGULS became aware that most gentlemen prefer blondes, golden tresses were the sign of innocence on the screen. The good fairy could always be spotted by her flaxen curls, while a black coif was the sign of the wicked witch. Then, along came Jean Harlow and the blonde bombshell became the dream of moviemakers everywhere. For a great many years, the beautiful blonde was considered an American tradition, like ham 'n eggs, baseball, and Mickey Mouse. After Harlow came Lana Turner and Betty Grable, followed in quick order by Marilyn Monroe. But the American monopoly is at an end, for the British have landed and leading the invasion is Sabrina, who is blonde, British, and built. Like most blonde movie queens, Sabrina has a skeleton in her closet. Emulating Monroe and Diana Dors, Sabrina started out her career by posing nude for pictures. After achieving fame, she attempted the great cover-up but her nude pix came back to haunt her. It seems an enterprising maker of placing cards got his hands on one of the photos and used it on the back of a pack, then reproduced them by the gross. The decks with Sabrina on them, understandably, sold like the proverbial hotcakes. Dissenting votes, however, came from inveterate gamblers who maintained they accidently [sic] exposed their hands, while trying to get a closer look at Sabrina's exposed curves. Born Norma Sykes, some 25 years ago, Sabrina has been in the limelight ever since she was 19 years old. Possessing the most famous bosom in Britain, she thrives on publicity and it is often said that she will do anything to get her name in the papers. This simple formula for success has worked. From an unknown girl who posed for nude photos at $25 a day, Sabrina now is in the $1200 a week bracket. (This pic also appeared in ' Real Adventure ', January 1957 - Ed) Known as the "Jayne Mansfield of Britain," Sabrina has starred in innumerable TV productions overseas as well as on many top American shows. Her name has appeared on movie marquees around the globe, and to illustrate her box office potential, a film producer named Leonard Burton, while casting a film called " Satan in High Heels ", wrote Sabrina into the act in order to assure success. Commenting on the anything-but-dumb Mansfield, who has more dramatic ability in one finger than Sabrina has in her whole bra, Sabrina said, "I don't want to be a second Mansfield. I have enough trouble being a first Sabrina." One, it would seem, is certainly enough.
