While idly revising the site I noticed a reference to Sabrina meeting Stirling Moss at the Grand Prix in Melbourne in 1958. One thing led to another and I ended up finding a DVD with a clip of Sabby at the event. It's amazing what you can find when you look in the right place.

So here for your high-performance enjoyment is the clip (DivX) and some stills from the event.

Sabrina and Stirling Moss 1958

24 October 2010 - Roger, with whom I conspired to find the Stirling Moss video, emailed. In part, he said:

I met Sir Stirling Moss at Motorclassica today (Saturday). He is a top bloke, sharp as a tack despite his age (and his near-death experience in March this year), very affable and easy to talk to, with a mischievous sense of humour. He had the crowd rolling in the aisles with his witty reminiscences during a brief interview on the show podium soon after our photo was taken.

When chatting with him one-on-one before the formal interview on stage, I managed to work Sabrina into our conversation by telling him that I'd recently bought a DVD of the 1958 Melbourne GP, in which he is seen trying to keep his eyes firmly fixed on Sabrina's face. He gave a hearty chuckle and said, "Well, you see, I'm not very tall, so it was very hard to keep making eye contact with her!"

One of his minders - a youngish chap from the motor show administration - then asked me, "So I am guessing that this Sabrina was...er, well-endowed?" To which I replied, "Exceptionally so" - which prompted a nod of the head and another chuckle from Sir Stirling!

Thanks, Roger!
