Sabrina arrives in Eastbourne 1958

SABRINA ARRIVES in Terminus-road while police keep back the crowds.

SABRINA said she could not remember her vital statistics when she was opening a local super market. “ I’ve forgotten what they are,” she remarked. Both her manager and publicity agent seemed unable to help her with this problem on Thursday.

Hundreds of people (who had a vague idea about her statistics) lined Terminus-road, and in parts were seven deep. Half-an-hour after her scheduled time of arrival at the Victor Value Supermarket, Sabrina arrived from Pevensey Bay, where she had been staying the night, and cut the red ribbon across the entrance to the store.

After wandering round the market and selecting a few goods fro hi the racks, Sabrina signed autographs for shoppers.

She told a Herald Chronicle reporter about her intention to visit Pevensey Castle and the Mint House in the afternoon. She said that she was very interested in antiques. Asked why she was wearing a high necked dress, she explained that it was a little chilly in an open convertible car.

Sabrina said that she arrived at Pevensey Bay at 1 a.m. on Thursday morning after giving her nightly show at the Prince of Wales Theatre. “ I have not had any breakfast, only champagne,” she explained as she asked for a sandwich.
