Queen Sabrina

Modern Man Yearbook 1959

THE INSTITUTION of the Beautiful Dumb Blonde was founded in America, developed in America and finally abandoned in America. Our greatest contributions to the institution are now gone — Harlow to the peroxide beyond. Turner and Grable alive but passé, Monroe turned egghead and Novak becoming a serious actress.

(Mansfield is making too much money to qualify in the "dumb" category any more.)

It is ironic indeed that Sabrina, the newest in a long line of B.D.B.'s, is, of all things, English!

With Sabrina as a front runner, Britannia is keeping alive the institution.

Born Norma Sykes, Sabrina made her first au naturel appearance 22 years ago, and has spent the last three personally responsible for the sharp rise in video sales in her native land.

The reason for Sabrina's success on TV is readily apparent — her bust — it measures an incredible 41½ inches.

Sabrina has frontsided her way to fame on the theory first set forth by Oscar Wilde (whom she has probably never heard of) that it is O.K. what people say about you as long as they say something. She thrives on hoopla.

Take for example her well publicized gesture of retrieving all the playing cards on which she appears nude, showing a fetching side view of her chest (taken when it was a small 39).

Monroe lives with calendar past; Ekberg is noncommittal on her statue past.

Sabrina and her cards, by contrast, proved good for many columns of tabloid copy and many, many pictures.

Queen of the Press Release or Monarch of the Mammaries — Sabrina is both.
