Mountains of the Moon

1967

Sabrina in Africa for the shooting of her Tarzan episodes: Mountains of the Moon.  I must say it was pretty gutsy to get that close to a rhino.

Quite a departure for our Sabrina, this double-episode of Tarzan from 1967 features her really genuinely acting. No thrusting bust (in fact the only detectable bust is that of Ethel Merman), no pouting poses, not a swimsuit nor a pair of Lycra pants to be seen for miles.

Sabrina is seriously acting at last!

An innocent Sabrina at the start of the film

Sabrina is Milly, part of a religious sect travelling across Africa to their promised land, The Mountains of the Moon. Assailed by ne'er-do-wells, they are saved by Tarzan (who seems inordinately skilled in karate and judo for a jungle-raised chimpman).

It is hard to accurately say when this film is set - they drive trucks from about 1940, wagons from about 1840, horses from around 1640, but their "Peace and Love" mumbo-jumbo is very 1967.

Sabrina trades in her guitar for a .303

Naturally, for an action show, we can't have people promoting peace and love for too long. They come to their senses at last, pick up rifles and start blowing the heads of whooping savages to reach a happy conclusion. Very cowboys-and-indians, except the indians are black, which probably brought a cheery sense of satisfaction to 1960s American audiences.

Sabrina deals out death to naughty natives!

So, with no more ado, the Sabrinastuff site proudly presents The Mountains of the Moon with the boring non-Sabrina bits carefully excised for your greater viewing pleasure.
